WHY I WROTE THIS BOOK

Many of us have spent years carrying things we were never meant to carry—other people's expectations, their choices, their pain, their healing, and sometimes even their happiness. Over time, that weight can leave us feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, and disconnected from ourselves.

In Put It Down, Keisha Bell-Celestand, LPC-S, invites you to begin the process of letting go. Through educational content, reflection exercises, practical tools and therapist-guided insight, you'll learn how to release what no longer serves you, set healthier boundaries, and create space for peace, healing, and growth.

Because you were never meant to carry it all.

This Book Is For You If:

You feel responsible for fixing, helping, or saving everyone around you.

Setting boundaries feels uncomfortable, selfish, or difficult.

You're working to heal from childhood wounds and unhealthy patterns.

You're exhausted from carrying emotional burdens that were never yours to carry.

You're ready to stop people-pleasing and start choosing yourself without shame.

You're ready to release what no longer serves you and make room for peace and healing.

Words From the Author

There comes a point when we have to ask ourselves a difficult question: Am I carrying things that were never mine to carry?

Over the years, I have sat with countless individuals who were weighed down by guilt, responsibility, pain, and expectations that did not belong to them. I have also learned that lesson in my own life.

I wrote Put It Down to remind you that healing does not require you to carry everything. You deserve peace. You deserve boundaries. You deserve the freedom that comes when you release what was never yours to hold.

My hope is that these pages help you reflect, heal, and take one step closer to the life you deserve.

"You do not have to carry everything to be worthy. Sometimes healing begins when you finally put it down."

— Keisha Bell-Celestand, LPC-S

“Put It Down: Letting Go of What Was Never Yours to Carry” has helped me come to terms with trauma I’ve carried most of my life. The chapters make you reflect, and although reflecting can be uncomfortable at times, Keisha gently guides you through each lesson and helps you understand that what you went through doesn’t define you.
